I forget that not everyone has a 50 meg Internet connection, and combined with the recent growth of plugins and modules available for your club website, we have been running 4-5 second page load times instead of what I like seeing (1-2).
So we installed a super fast cache system. What this essentially does is takes a snapshot of your website, rendering it in an old fashioned static HTML format. Then you use the easy admin interface to add new information, the Caching sniffers will pick up that you changed it, and rebuild the html page.
The first time you load a page, a script fires off to cache it for other visitors. No extra work needed by you.
One thing I wanted to alert people of is that it rotates on a timer, so you may see some old pages being displayed after you update. These will get picked up in a bit and changed. I can disable caching for logged in users if we find it to be frustrating. However, this will effect you everywhere, including club hosting pages and posts.
So the results?
ClubHosting’s home page went from 4 second load to one. Pretty fast! 🙂
If you have any reports though of strange behavior, or any extra sluggish sections – please let us know as soon as you can. We expect this to be a great improvement to the network, but always appreciate the feedback!
